Our latest TAG TALK was Sept 12 when Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Matthew J. Zakreski, PsyD presented:
2E or not 2E: Implications of Giftedness and Twice-Exceptionality for Serving Neurodivergent Learners
About: Giftedness is a concept that is often complicated and misconstrued within the education community. When giftedness co-occurs with a documented learning difference (i.e., ADHD, specific learning disabilities), a concept known as twice-exceptionality (2e), then the awareness is even more scarce. This presentation will overview the definitions of giftedness and twice-exceptionality as elements of neurodivergence and explore how these students interact with educational and mental health systems. This presentation will provide meaningful strategies for intervening with these neurodiverse students, both inside and outside the classroom, and work with attendees to practice them for future implementation. Lastly, Dr. Zakreski will share a series of resources for professionals to further their education in intervening with this complicated population.
Both the video and presentation slides for Dr. Zakreski's TAG Talk are available to OATAG Members
