​Get Involved.  Join the Board.

Get involved with OATAG.  Join our Board and support efforts to help gifted children and their families around Oregon.  Board membership is volunteer and uncompensated.

Board Member Terms and Conditions 

By applying to join the Board of OATAG, you agree to adhere to certain conditions.  Some characteristics are required, others are optional.

REQUIREMENTS include the following:
  1. Have been an OATAG member for at least six months.
  2. Attend and participate in quarterly board meetings, either in person or electronically.
  3. Contribute to OATAG social media or other publications on topics of interest to the parents and educators of TAG and high-potential students.
  4. Assist in fund raising and recruit members for OATAG from around the state, with a focus on areas not currently represented within OATAG. 
  5. Participate in OATAG events and/or on an OATAG committee.
  6. Act as a resource in their community for parents, educators and community members.
  7. Maintain an ability to work around children by keeping a clean criminal record.

OPTIONAL characteristics include any/all of the following:
  1. Become familiar with best practices and state requirements for the education of TAG and high-potential students.
  2. Work with other Board members and local groups to identify topics, practices, or strategies of relevance to TAG and high potential students.
  3. Work on behalf of OATAG as a liaison to other organizations.
  4. Establish and maintain contact with their community concerning the importance of instruction for high-potential and talented and gifted students and the need to provide appropriate programs and services for them.
